1st YEAR
  • Understand the role of agriculture in the U.S. and
    the world, and expand on plant sciences
  • Learn and work with technology used in agriculture including GPS, GIS, drones, and virtual reality
  • Explore crop management and the variables that influence production and distribution
  • Learn about soil analysis, soil testing, and pest management for large-scale crop production
  • Opportunity to earn Part 107 UAS certification for use of drones in agriculture
2nd YEAR
  • Utilize program greenhouses and the ACCELL farm to develop individual year long projects demonstrating skills learned in the 1st year of the program
  • Work with community partners to develop plans for more efficient crop management techniques through Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) project
  • Learn the business aspects of this industry
  • Learn about soil analysis, soil testing, and pest management for large-scale crop production
  • Opportunity to earn an Ivy Tech certificate in Plant Production and technical certificate in Precision Agriculture Specialist
  • Prerequisite: Precision Ag I
CAREER FOCUS
  • Students will be prepared for employment in the
    agriculture industry using technology to improve the quality of nutrients, soil, water, crops, etc, such as a drone operator/pilot, pest management, farming or further their education through a precision agriculture program at a 2-year or 4-year post secondary institution
