Fire and Rescue

The Fire and Rescue program will guide students through some of the knowledge, skills, and teamwork structure of fire science. The lessons and hands-on experience will give students a perception of the occupation as well as a vision of what to expect should they desire to enter this field. The curriculum used is the same format and design as used by countless fire prevention service agencies.

COURSE OVERVIEW:
(DOE COURSE: FIRE & RESCUE I-5820)
  • Develop core skills in handling emergency situations,
    such as extinguishing fires and providing the initial first aid care in traffic accidents and other medical emergencies as a first responder
  • Interact with professionals from local fire departments and other emergency personnel departments
  • Additional training (with certifications available) will include Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Additional training (with certifications available) in Fire
    Investigator, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I, and Emergency Medical Responder
  • Placement in one of our local fire departments for extensive job shadowing opportunities
CAREER FOCUS
  • Students will be prepared to pursue further education in a firefighting career

Indiana Firefighting 1 & 2 certifications available
Costs = $150 class fee
