Automotive Refinishing
COURSE OVERVIEW
(DOE COURSE: AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPAIR II-5544)
Students will learn the skills needed for entry-level employment in the fast-paced environment of an automotive refinishing facility. The skills include basic panel preparation, undercoats, waterborne basecoat/clearcoat application, color matching and blending, tri-coat finishes, and automotive detailing. Estimating the cost of repairs is also part of the course curriculum.
- Introduction and discussion related to safety and the environment, refinish equipment, and color theory, application, tinting, and blending
- MSDS, environmental laws, and material mixing
- Paint vehicles using industry-standard equipment and materials
- Work side-by-side with experienced automotive refinishing technicians
- Efficiently produce quality repairs in the fast-paced environment of an automotive refinishing facility
- Prerequisite: Automotive Collision Repair

- Students will be prepared for immediate employment in the automotive refinishing industry, ASE certification, and/or further education
I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Automotive Repair) certification available
